Half-way Through the First Quarter
With all of the iReady diagnostic test finished and a bit of learning behind us, we are now at the point where students will take the Unit 1 tests in all of the subjects. So be looking for the grade to be posted in HAC within the coming weeks. Still, here what we are learning now.
English Language Arts
We looked at making inferences while reading. The students also continued to work in adding the correct punctuation to their sentences and not forgetting to put periods at the end of their sentences. The students have been working on a story where they talk about a fun activity they did with a friend. They will go back and edit this story checking to see that they have punctuated it correctly.
Math
In math, we have moved on to looking at prime and composite numbers. The students worked on understanding the vocabulary and using models to help develop an understanding of these terms.
Science
In science, we did an experiment where we tested how well certain materials could insulate a cup of ice. Again we worked on using the relative vocabulary terms like conductors and insulators. Next week we will carry this vocabulary over to looking at electrical energy.
Social Studies
In social studies, we looked at our Constitution and talked about how it is the guide for how our country is run. We also talked about the Preamble and its purpose.
