Elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for students to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, counselors work as a team with the school staff, parents, and the community to create a caring climate. By providing education, prevention, early identification, and intervention, school counselors can help all children achieve success.
All students have the ability to acquire the necessary skills to be college and/or career ready.
The school counseling program is all inclusive and is a comprehensive and developmentally based program that follows the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model.
School counselors are advocates for all students and help to overcome barriers through collaboration with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians.
Program decisions, goals, and action plans will be based on informal and formal data.
School counselors follow the ethical guidelines established by ASCA and the Board of Educational Examiners.
The School Counseling Program will optimize future personal and professional experiences of all students by increasing their skills that will enhance their ability to live, work, and face new challenges in an ever-changing and diverse world.
The School Counseling Program offers individual, small, and large group instruction to students in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development. In collaboration with parents, teachers, staff, administration, and community members, the goal of the program is that all students will develop to the best of their abilities and be responsible members of their communities.
