Hi! I’m Hannah and I’m from Manchester, in the northwest of England. It’s a large city with more than half a million inhabitants. And it’s a busy city with lots of traffic, so it’s noisy too – that can get on your nerves sometimes! But then again there are always buses, so it’s very easy to get around the city and to all the fun places. Just think of all the museums, parks, cinemas, …
In the past Manchester had lots of industry and there were many dirty factories. There were coal mines near Manchester too.
I live in a flat with my mum and my little sister. Our flat is not far from the city centre. It’s very small! Mum works in a supermarket in the city. She often has to work in the evening.
The best thing about Manchester? Football! Manchester City are the best team ever!
My name is Tom and I live on a farm in Bramford. That’s a small village in the north of England, near Hadrian’s Wall. Bramford is about 40 miles from Newcastle. We used to live in Newcastle, but my parents didn’t like the city. They wanted to live in the countryside. Did they ask me? No, they didn’t!
It’s hard work on the farm. Still, I enjoy it because I like our animals. There are two goats, Bert and Daisy, and a lot of cows. I get up at six o’clock most days to help milk them.
It’s quiet in the village. Only about 400 people live here. Dad likes the country – I call it boring!
The worst thing about our village? There are only two buses a day. It’s difficult to see friends at the weekend! It’s so unfair!
