Challenges and concerns

In Dan Ayoub's speech, he listed the following 4 challenges for mixed reality technology to be widely adopted:

Lack of good content/ curriculum
Demonstrating impact on learning outcomes in K-12
Cost of an HMD setup : a big challenge to deploy at a large scale.
Educator PD

Many researchers who have researched these technologies hold some common concerns: maybe these technologies are too intrusive (Jorge, Silvia, Ramon, Sabine, & Kinshuk, 2014). With these technology constantly using your position, sharing your information and following your eyeballs. It is no exaggeration to say that it is an extended human body part.

Educators could & should

Educators should act as designers who work closely with companies/ programmers to make sure that the contents/ curriculum are age and school appropriate.
Education ministry should encourage and support relevant professional developments and launch pilot projects to collect more data on the feasibility of deploying this new technology.

To be moral and ethical code makers in the process of designing programs
Offer guidance and supervision
Give feedback (a chance to draw the students back to reality)
