SPECIAL NOTES REGARDING ALL ITEMS:
-As wood ages, it will continue to dry out and lose moisture. The drying process may result in the wood splitting (otherwise known as “checking”). This is absolutely 100% normal. Once the first crack(s) appear, the wood shouldn’t split any further after about a week. We do our best to ensure that we use kiln-dried wood to minimize the chances for potential checking. This process can still occur even with kiln-dried lumber.
CUTTING BOARDS
-A gentle sanding (quarterly) using 220 grit or higher will remove knife marks left from use. Once finished sanding, wipe down the slab with damp (not saturated) cloth to remove any excess dust from sanding. Then wipe dry with a dry paper towel. Then using a lint-free cloth, apply a food-grade/safe mineral oil or cutting board wax (message/email us if you want some recommendations on products). Mineral oil and/or cutting board wax will reinvigorate the appearance of the grain as well as provide protection for the cutting board.
-NEVER PUT A WOODEN CUTTING BOARD IN A DISHWASHER!
ALL OTHER ITEMS
-Occasional dusting and use of Pledge or Orange Glo furniture cleaner will extend the life of the wood while also keeping the color and grain highly visible. Repeat this process on an as needed basis.
