MPRUN 1.2 has reached the Release Candidate (RC) stage, meaning 1.2 is close! RC1 includes soooooo many improvements, it practically feels like a whole new software. Let's talk about the highlights of this release:
1. The New UI
In RC1, we have completely re-designed the user interface. It employs a modern, color-intense stylesheet much different from older versions of MPRUN. It gives off a very slick, new futuristic vibe compared to the boring colors of previous versions.
Panels and widgets have been re-worked, as animations have been added to the UI. If you expand a panel, it really adds a nice display effect when it opens up the content inside.
2. Tools Have Never Been Better
MPRUN's toolset has expanded very largely in RC1. We introduced the 3D Viewer which allows you to view the 2D scene in 3D. You can see (some) course features, pan, orbit, and of course zoom. It is still under active development which is why it doesn't work for everything.
We also added the Course Elements Builder, or CEB for short. The CEB does exactly as the name says, allows you to build your own course features. Using a completely unique, CAD style toolset, you can draw rails, jumps, and even halfpipe features. After you have finished building your feature(s), you can send them right to the scene.
3. Optimized For Success
The image above shows 3076 items being rendered and manipulated at a normal speed. This is a 50% improvement from MPRUN 1.1, which would struggle around 2000 items.
Tools and code space have also been optimized, with the path draw tool now being 10x faster, and the fact that we removed ~1000 lines of redundant code.
