MPRUN is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL, or “free software”).
This license grants people a number of freedoms:
You are free to use MPRUN, for any purpose
You are free to distribute MPRUN
You can study how MPRUN works and change it
You can distribute changed versions of MPRUN
The GPL strictly aims at protecting these freedoms, requiring everyone to share their modifications when they also share the software in public. That aspect is commonly referred to as Copyleft. The MP Software Foundation and its projects are committed to preserving MPRUN as free software.

The source code we develop at github.com is default being licensed as GNU GPL Version 3 or later. Some modules we use are using more permissive licenses for example, Python uses the Python License. All the components that together make MPRUN are compatible under the newer GNU GPL Version 3 or later. That is also the license to use for any distribution of MPRUN binaries.

The same GNU GPL Version 3 license applies to all of MPRUN's assets and icons used throughout the user interface. The only exclusions are brand logos (e.g. GitHub logo, Reddit Logo, etc.) which have their own separate licenses.

What you create with MPRUN is your sole property. All your artwork – images or files – including the .mp files and other data files MPRUN can write, is free for you to use as you like.
That means that MPRUN can be used commercially by teams, by studios to make drawings, by scientists for research, and by students in educational institutions.
MPRUN's GNU GPL license guarantees you this freedom. Nobody is ever permitted to take it away, in contrast to trial or “educational” versions of commercial software that will forbid your work in commercial situations.

MPRUN respects your privacy, no registration is needed, no connection to the internet is made if you decide to install and use MPRUN. MPRUN does not need internet to function properly. You can read our more about privacy here.
