Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue

Saving one Miniature Schnauzer at a time

About us:

Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, adoption, and placement of Miniature Schnauzers in Minnesota. Our mission is to find forever homes for these lovable dogs and provide them with the love and care they deserve. At Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, we believe in a thorough adoption process to ensure the best match between a dog and its new family. We require potential adopters to go through a screening process that includes a detailed application, home visits, and meet and greets. Our adoption process starts with the family meeting the requirements which we take seriously that are listed below, having a suitable fence, not home all day alone, and live in Mpls area.

If you meet the requirements of having suitable fencing,

the dog will not be home all day alone, and live in Minneapolis,

you can request an application by email:

schnauzerrescuempls@gmail.com

If you need our help with placing your Schnauzer, we can help you wherever you live,

and we will get back to you ASAP once you e-mail us with your phone number using the e-mail above.

Fenced Love

Please note that one of our key requirements is a fenced-in yard (electronic is not fencing), as Miniature Schnauzers are active dogs that need a secure space to play and exercise. We want the best for our dogs, and we firmly believe that sticking to our requirements is the best way to ensure their long-term happiness and well-being. We're not here to make exceptions or bend the rules - our focus is on finding forever homes for these wonderful pets. At Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, we are not breeders or a business. We solely work with families who, for various reasons, can no longer keep their beloved Miniature Schnauzers.

Companionship

It's important to understand that Miniature Schnauzers cannot be left alone for long periods of time, as they thrive on human companionship. If you work long hours or have a busy schedule, this may not be the right breed for you. We encourage all potential adopters to carefully consider their lifestyle and make sure they can provide the time and attention these dogs need.  Miniature Schnauzers are prone to crystals in their urine, like all animals and humans, they need to go to the bathroom to flush them out and relieve themselves.  Dogs are the only animals that can't go where and when they want.  Holding it for long hours is not fair to them.

Placement location

Please note, we are all volunteers with family, jobs, and dogs of our own.  We can not drive hours to do mandatory home visits. Our group can only service Minneapolis and close suburbs.  We never ship dogs or have people come and get them.  We need to see where they live.  Rest assured, it's not about you not being good enough - we simply have enough caring individuals in our area who are ready to provide a loving home for these dogs..  Maybe if the breeder did this, there wouldn't be so many mistakes happening to create a need for dog rescues.

Application

We have an application process for all potential owners to match the dogs we have in to their lifestyle. This application must be filled out after you meet the requirements of fencing, not home all day alone, and living in Minneapolis or surrounding close suburbs.

Home Visits

We do home visits to ensure that the Miniature Schnauzers is safe, secure and happy. Our volunteers have jobs, families, and dogs of their own. It is not possible to travel long distances to do these visits. It is impossible to service the entire Minnesota area and we ask that you be respectful of the requirement to live in Minneapolis or surrounding areas.

Meet and Greet

Before finalizing the forever home, we organize a meet and greet session for the Schnauzer and its potential owners. We want to be assured that the already displaced Miniature Schnauzer gets along with the entire family. We don't have a physical location and all dogs are in private homes of our foster families, there is no way to view or meet them prior to having all the steps of our adoption process is completed.
