Tiny Stories. Huge Heart.
The mission of the Madison Public Library is to provide access to dynamic collections, appropriate technology, and global information, supporting and enriching individual, family, and community life.
Neighborhood Narratives is an audio-based project created by the Madison Public Library in collaboration with local businesses and community members. This project focuses on short sixty-second stories, told by local community members.
These sixty-second stories enable the public to hear from people in their community and gain a deeper understanding of their neighbors. The Madison Public Library will share these stories via QR codes displayed at local businesses. Be on the lookout! Scan the QR Codes and find out more about your neighbors!
The stories we are sharing with the public are intended to be less than a minute long. Keep this in mind when preparing for an interview. The interviewer will ask you three questions, but only one of your answers will be chosen to share with the public.
Before you start the interview, you will need to:
Sign a release form
Provide the library with a picture of yourself to accompany your short story
Answer five introductory questions:
What's your name?
What's your job/how do you spend your time?
What's your hometown?
Why did you (or your family) move to Madison?
What's your age?
During the interview, you will:
Provide a brief introduction by answering the five introductory questions listed above
Answer three questions
The participant can choose these questions or select from the list provided by the library. Only one of these answers will be shared publicly.
Once the participant has answered three questions and signed the consent form, the interview is complete.
