The Beta Alpha chapter of Mu Phi was established on April 10th, 1965 here at Cal State University, Fullerton. The Mu Phi Epsilon Fraternity was started in 1903. We welcome members based on their qualities of musicianship, high scholarship, character and friendliness. We welcome collegiates who want to become part of a Fraternity with high ideals and a long history of service.
Aligning with our values as a Fraternity, the Beta Alpha Chapter holds several community service opportunities through out the semester. Here are a few!
One of our goals as a chapter is to serve our community through music! We have had opportunities to perform and educate the community around us, such as schools, children's center, retirement homes, and the OLLI center on campus.
Our campus is beautiful and we have the privilege of utilizing private practice rooms in the music building. Every semester we serve our community by volunteering our time to clean the practice rooms.
We hold clothing drives on campus and have collaborated with other Fraternities to make the most of the community service opportunity.
Majoring in music is not an easy task, and neither are final exams. To ease help students through their final exams, we have brought snacks for the students in classes such as Music History so that they are fueled and ready to succeed!
We hold a canned food drive every semester and donate them to a good cause.Â
At the end of the semester, the chapter holds a week of study room sessions to provide all music students with a quiet place to study or receive tutoring in classes. We also provide mock juries that simulate the end of the semester performance exams that all music students take. We bring in professors to give them feedback and allow them a first run through with their pieces in the same manner as their final exam.
