Currently, the library has varied services to cater the needs of its patrons namely: Reference Service, Current Awareness Service (CAS), Information Literacy Program and Book Borrowing.
REFERENCE SERVICE
The library Reference Area is to develop the best resources and services available, facilitate and maximize their use to enhance teaching and learning, and teach information seeking skills that support lifelong learning.
The Reference Desk provides assistance upon request to help students meet their research and informational needs, and is staffed by librarian who can help library users define and organize their research, find the most appropriate sources, and use.
CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICE (CAS)
CAS is the service meant for the speedy announcement of newly acquired information or documents. The main objective of CAS is to keep the students and other readers abreast of current developments in their respective fields of interests as quickly and efficiently as possible. The students need to be informed of recent arrivals of books in the library.
INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM
Information Literacy is the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information.
Library Orientation provides a good understanding of the libraries core function, facilities, resources and services. This service is offered to the students during the start of every school year.
Bibliographic Instruction (BI) is an instructional program designed to teach library users how to locate the information they need quickly and effectively.
It is done through:
Teaching library users how to locate and use library materials
Teaching library users how to evaluate the information they find
Introducing library users to database searching
Helping library users become aware of information as it exists in its different formats: print, non-print, electronic and online
ACCESSING AND BORROWING OF BOOKS
The library collection materials such as: circulation books, reserve books, and Filipiniana can be checked out by the students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Borrowing Privileges
The use of the library is a privilege and not a right. All registered students are granted full borrowing privileges. In the event that library privileges are abused by any library users, the Librarian shall reserve the right to limit or revoke that individual’s privileges. Students must present their validated student ID card in order to checkout library materials.
ONLINE REFERENCE SERVICE
Is a collaborative Virtual Reference service that connects students, faculty members and staff with real time assistance through our Facebook page and email. Intended to answer typically asked questions. We will only answer appropriately and library related questions such as:
-general and directional information about the school,
-the library and its policies,
-access to the library and its resources,
-research strategy, and navigating our database,
-how to cite particular resources in different citation styles,
-and use citation management tools.
ONLINE INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM
Provides library orientation or library instruction program to teach library research skills and promote information literacy. It includes the following:
Library orientation
Overview of the library policies, procedures, services and facilities.
Library instruction program
The program includes tutorial on how to use the print, non print and online database available in the library.
DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICE
The articles and book chapters from the journals, books, and ebooks that are available in the library will be digitized and will be sent to the email address of the requesting students or faculty. Below are the guidelines for this service.
1. Chat/email the library on the list of available references/resources needed.
2. Take note of the necessary information. The title of the article or chapter, the title of the book or journal where the article or chapter is found, place and date of publication and the specific page numbers to be requested.
3. Send your requests via email or direct message us at our Facebook page through the Facebook Messenger app.
4. This service includes image scanning and book chapter PDF. Take note that this is a first come first serve basis with two to five working days processing.
