We have put forward a modified nonlinear SEIR model of the COVID-19 pandemic to model and understand the 1st COVID wave of the pandemic in India.
We have taken the pandemic data till the 170th day from the start of the pandemic and used those data to predict the pandemic pattern beyond 1 year in advance (back in September 2020), which fitted accurately with the real data and also with the logoistic curves. As per our conjecture, the asymptomaic population is between 7.5% to 15%.
Besides, we also looked at the socio-economic pattern of the pandemic in 11 federal Indian states and demonstrated the so-called pandemic fatigue among the people.

The firefly is an interesting insect, which emits a very cold light that is highly energy efficient.
In this work, we compared the firefly flashing to a nonlinear oscillator and proposed a model based on the current experimental understanding of the whole subject.
Interestingly, we have been able to reproduce the experimentally observed firefly flash pattern as it responds to the ambient temperature. The calculated kinematic reaction rates based on our model closely agree to the experimentally estimated values, thus pointing to the fact that the propsed model is similar to the that of the underlying physical mechanism. This is the first time that such a nonlinear model has been proposed for a firefly flash.
