In 2016, a former graduate and parent of Springfield Township School District and Dr. Andre McLaurin partnered to address concerns and ideas on how to create a more inclusive environment for the students of our district. The group met regularly, to informally share ideas and ways they could begin advocating for their children and promoting activities that would help facilitate the growth of a more inclusive community. In 2018, Dr. Jim Etlen and Dr. Piper Williams were asked to co-chair the group, along with Dr. Angela Beale- Tawfeeq and Mrs. Lauren Camper who were asked to be parent leaders. The four graciously accepted and worked together over the last few years to shape and form this parent based organization. Their first step was to give the group a name and identifying logo. They worked to gain exposure to other parents within the district by attending back to school nights and working with administrators to promote meetings. Today, the four leaders continue to work to create an inclusive environment for students and parents by delivering thoughtful programming, hosting events, and engaging in meaningful conversations. The Multicultural Parents Association of Springfield Township School District welcomes all parents to partner alongside of us in promoting the beauty of our diverse community.
