This is the official portfolio website of Maria Parente.

I'm a freshman at Florida International University, and I like to call myself a science enthusiast. My goal is to become an evolutionary biologist, who studies physiology, natural history, and taxonomy in order to analyze and crack the mysteries present in evolutionary chains.

I can appreciate both lab and field settings, and seeing my work go up in a museum is on my bucket list. I mean, how cool would that be? Being recognized for my contributions to science, and allowing others to improve on what I've done? That's the dream. Phenotypes might go down in history, but hopefully, so will I.

I'm also interested in minoring or investing in a side-career that involves my art, writing, editing, graphic design, or animation skills. My proficiency goes back 10+ years, and I'm an independent artist who receives professional commissions on the regular.

Goals for 2018—2019

• To become inducted as an official member of the Tri-Beta Biological Honors Society at FIU by the end of my Spring semester.
• To establish a presence on the internet with Handshake and LinkedIn for future prospecting employers.
• To maintain a 3.7 GPA or higher for my freshman year, and to maximize the amount of credits I can save by taking higher-level courses.
• To join and participate in at least one art/writing centered society and submit my personal work into a University or local competition.
• To gain an internship with any number of viable, science-supporting organizations after starting college.
