The Rotator Unit

The Pictures and Animations below are based on the Kuru Toga rotational engine found the the Kuru Toga Ks and the Kuru Toga Dive. The principles of function are the same for all Kuru Toga Models. The Classic engine spins the lead 9 degrees per stroke while the w-speed engine spins the lead 18 degrees per stroke. The text below shows the operation of the classic engine.

Starting the cycle at the topmost position, which occurs when the pencil lead is fully pushed onto the paper in writing, the upwards force overpowers the spring and keeps it in the topmost position.

The spring is constantly pushing down on the middle rotator
The clutch is connected to the middle rotator, vertically and rotationally.
The Top and Bottom cams are rotationally and vertically fixed to the pencil body.
Explanation
Starting the cycle at the topmost position, which occurs when the pencil lead is fully pushed onto the paper in writing, the upwards force overpowers the spring and keeps it in the topmost position.
As the pencil lead leaves the paper as the pencil is lifted, the upwards pressure is released and the spring pushes the middle rotator straight down until it touches the bottom cam. As it touches the bottom cam, it meshes with it, vertical force is transferred into rotational force and the middle rotator is rotated 4.5 degrees. It is kept in this position by the spring until the lead is pushed onto the paper again. As writing pressure is applied, the middle rotator travels straight up, until it touches the top cam, meshing with it, transfering vertical force into rotational force and rotating the middle rotator 4.5 degrees. It is now back at the topmost position we started in. Thus every cycle, also known as stroke rotates the pencil 4.5+4.5=9 degrees.
