The fitness industry is a constantly evolving space and it has certainly moved towards the online delivery system in the last few years. I personally believe covid had a lot to do with it as a lot of trainers couldnt physically coach their clients in a face to face delivery method. I coached clients face to face for 15 years and never really thought about going online until recently and it has been amazing.
The way i do online coaching is by delivery a high quality service of nutrition and training programming through an app that clients have access to on their phone. Clients then track their food intake, body weight, progress photos and their training in the app and when it gets completed it notifies me so that i can hold them accountable. I also book them in weekly for video check in calls to make sure that they are staying on track and to update them if i have had to make any changes/adjustments to their programming. It allows the client to have access to me as their coach without having to be physically with them in a training session.
For the client it allows them to have access to coaches anywhere in the world. It allows them to be able to train anywhere they want as they dont have to go to a specific gym that their coach would coach people from. They can contact their coach at anytime if they need any updates to their programming or if they want to make any changes. As a client you are held accountable as your coach has full access to the training app and can see what you have or have not completed. Therefore as a client you have access to the best and smartest minds in the industry.
As a coach it allows the freedom of flexibility to your working environment. You can coach clients anywhere in the world from anywhere in the world. You can also set your own schedule and dont have to rely on clients turning up to training sessions and or cancelling on you last minute. (which happens a lot when you are a face to face coach). It allows you to hold clients much more accountable to their results and therefore produce much better and more consistent results for your clients.
Absolutley. You get a weekly video check in call with your coach and outside of that we have a policy where our trainers will get back to clients within a 24 hour period. We tell our clients the more they message their coach the better as commuinication is key to sucess and as we know... team work makes the dream work!
Yes. Our coaches will set calorie and macro nutrient targets specific for your goal and then teach you how to track your food intake through myfitness pal. We teach our clients about flexible dieting so that they can have the flexibility to eat what they want but within the limitations of the targets the coach has set.
If you are unsure of any movements that are in your training programming you will communicate that with your coach. You can do that on your weekly check in call or message your coach letting them know. The coach will then instruct you on what needs to be done next. We usually get the clients to film themselves performing the exercise in the gym so that the coaches can see what needs to be fixed. The coach would then instruct on changes to technique and send a video of them performing that movement with the right technique to help assisst you.
This varies greatly from person to person and your coach will assisst you with all aspects of nutrition including supplements.
We tell all our clients- The faster you can shift your focus from "outcome" to "process" the more enjoyable the coaching will be and the faster you will see results. What we mean by that is focus on the daily tasks that you need to complete that will get you closer to your goal and if you can focus on these and enjoy that process then the end "outcome" will take care of itself.
Cardio is a great tool for many reasons. Cardiovascular exercise will help lower resting heart rate, improve your cholesterol and blood pressure, help you become fitter, burns calories, strengthens your heart and lungs and can be a good tool for weight management.
Depending on your fitness goals, cardio can be a really good contributor to overall health and well-being.
Sleep is absolutley critical in all aspects of life and not just health and fitness. I would say it is the foundation that everything else is built on.
Dr Matthew Walker - is the expert on sleep and i highly recommend his book- "Why we sleep"
"Contrary to our quiet physical state, the brain is very active during sleep, carrying out many important functions. Sleep is essential to every process in the body, affecting our physical and mental functioning the next day, our ability to fight disease and develop immunity, and our metabolism and chronic disease risk."

Online training is highly effective when there is a good working realtionship between client and coach. If the client "buys in" to the process that the coach has outlined and programmed then it becomes highly effective and clients do reach their goals. The accountability is one of the best aspects of online coaching and it allows for a much better working realtionship between client and coach.
As part of the process of becoming a client of MP Coaching we get clients to fill out a questionnaire giving the coach details about each client and their goals. The coach will then jump on a call with each client individually and talk about the answers and also find out more information about each client and their specific goals. This allows the coach to personalise each workout plan and nutrition plan for each individual client based on their goals.
Absolutely. Online coaching is suitable for beginners all the way through to advanced athletes. The good thing about online coaching is the close working relationship you have with your coach. Your coach will help program your nutrition and workouts based on where you are in your training career.
This will be dependant on your goals. Injuries could certainly slow down your progress but they dont have to completely stop you from getting the results that you want. You would be working closely with your coach to find a plan that helps you adapt and work around injuries. Communication between client and coach would be crucial in this instance to helping find solutions to continue to make progress.
