Hypnosis, hypnotherapy, or hypnotic suggestion is a trance like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. It is often done with the help of a professional using verbal repetition and mental images. When you are under hypnosis you will feel calm, relaxed, and more open to suggestions.
You might not be in control
You are always in control during hypnosis, and cannot be hypnotized to do anything that goes against your morals.
You might not wake up
Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation
You can't be hypnotized
Hypnosis is a natural state that we go in and out of throughout our day. Anyone can be hypnotized, and some people require different techniques
Hypnosis is scary
Fifteen minutes in hypnosis can equal up to four hours of deep rest for your body, you will likely come out feeling rested and refreshed
You might not remember being hypnotized
Most people remain fully conscious during a session, and remember everything. If you go into a deep state there is a chance you might not remember everything, but it will remain in your subconscious. Even in a deep state of hypnosis you are in control and would wake up if anything negative were suggested to you
Only deep hypnosis is effective
A lot of transformative work can be done in a light state of hypnosis. Some subjects might benefit more from a deeper state and it might take a few sessions for you to be able to reach that deeper state of hypnosis
Hypnosis is for weak minded people
Hypnosis is more effective for people who are intelligent, creative, and good at concentrating
Hypnosis is like magic, you will leave a different person
A carefully designed hypnotherapy session paired with a well thought out action plan is what will set you up for success! Results rely on both hypnotherapist and clients working together to create the results you want
Hypnosis has negative side affects
Hypnosis is completely safe, natural, and has zero negative side affects. Regular use of hypnosis has many benefits
Helping people to stop smoking is one of the most common therapeutic uses of hypnosis. For many, the ultimate test of whether hypnosis really works is if hypnosis can recondition someone to stop smoking? The answer is a resounding yes.
Hypnosis can be up to 95% effective In scientific studies, the use of hypnosis has been shown to be three times more effective than other methods of smoking cessation, which have a success rate of about 30%. These studies included the use of subliminal audio tracks.
Some hypnotherapists claim much better success rates, as much as 95% using one-on-one personal therapy, with even just one session. Statistically speaking, the success rate for using hypnosis to stop smoking is between 75 –95%. The difference is dependent on individual motivation.
Hypnosis is an excellent tool for creating long-term life changes that are heavily influenced by the mindset, attitude, or frame of mind. It has been determined that products such as Ziban, Nicorette Gum, The Patch, etc. have a 4% -9% success rate. These so-called ‘aids’ only mask the symptoms, whereas hypnosis, helps you deal with the underlying reasons why you smoke. Does it make sense to use nicotine replacements to cure nicotine addictions? Although the majority of successful hypnosis clients experience little to no cravings, withdrawal, or weight gain, it is still what smokers fear the most. By providing tools and skills you can combat cravings, if you should experience them. Hypnosis can break the ‘bad habit’ cycle, it has the power to break the link between trigger activities that smokers associate with having a cigarette. Of course, there are numerous stimuli that can trigger the desire to smoke. It might be visiting a bar for a drink with friends, experiencing stress at home, or taking a ten-minute coffee break at work; a stressful telephone call, a business meeting, or finishing a meal. Each smoker has a personal arsenal of such triggers that prompt their desire to smoke. The use of post-hypnotic suggestions help you learn to respond differently to those triggers, instead of reacting through habit.
Triggers and habits stay in the unconscious even after stopping smoking. The associations between these triggers and the smoking habit live in the unconscious mind and remain entrenched even after the physical addiction to nicotine has been mastered. The hypnotist has the unique ability to direct suggestions to the smoker's unconscious, where these powerful trigger links can, at last, be removed or better still, replaced.
