Privacy Policy — Movies Torrent
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy explains what information the Movies Torrent app ("the app") handles, who handles it, and what choices you have. It is written to match what the app actually does — if you find a difference between this document and the app's behaviour, treat it as a bug and tell us.
The app is published by Morad Al-Rowaihi. For anything in this policy, contact m.alrowaihi@gmail.com .
In short
The app has no accounts. It never asks for your name, email, phone number or payment details.
We do not run servers that store anything about you. Your search terms, the movies you open and the files you download are not sent to us and are not recorded anywhere we can see.
The app does show ads, supplied by Google AdMob. Ads are the one part of the app that collects information about your device, and you control how much.
In Europe and the UK you are asked for consent before any ad is requested, and you can change your answer at any time.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing. There is no Movies Torrent account, no Movies Torrent server, and no analytics product in this app. We have no way to identify you.
The app stores a cache of movie listings and details on your device so it opens quickly and works offline. That cache never leaves your phone, and clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app deletes it.
What third parties collect
The app includes software from Google. These services collect information directly from your device, as independent controllers of that information — not through us.
Google AdMob (advertising)
To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect:
your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS when you allow it), which you can reset or disable in your device settings;
your IP address, from which an approximate location such as country or city can be derived;
device information: model, operating system version, language, screen size, network type;
ad interactions: which ads were shown, viewed or tapped.
AdMob and its advertising partners use this to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and detect fraud. Google explains what it does with this data here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Google User Messaging Platform (consent)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland — or in a US state with applicable privacy laws — a consent screen appears before ads load. The platform records your choice so you are not asked repeatedly. If you decline, ads are either non-personalised or not shown at all, depending on your answer.
Firebase Remote Config
The app reads its settings (such as the address of the movie catalogue service) from Firebase Remote Config so they can be corrected without a new release. This sends a Firebase installation identifier plus basic app and device details to Google. It carries no advertising data and is not used to profile you.
Google Play services
Standard platform services supplied by Google on Android devices.
The app does not include Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics.
Why we rely on these, legally
For people in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, under the GDPR:
Purpose Legal basis
Personalised ads and ad measurement Your consent, given through the consent screen
Non-personalised ads, fraud prevention, basic ad delivery Legitimate interests — funding a free app and keeping it free of abuse
Reading app configuration (Remote Config) Legitimate interests — delivering a working app
Consent is never assumed. You can withdraw it at any time (see below), and withdrawing it does not affect anything that happened before.
Your choices and rights
Change your consent decision. Open the app's Privacy options from the menu on the main screen. This reopens the same screen you saw the first time, and your new answer takes effect immediately.
Control the advertising identifier on your device.
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. The app only asks for tracking permission if you have allowed apps to ask; declining is final until you change it here.
US state privacy rights. If you live in a US state with a privacy law, you may have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Use the privacy screen described above, or write to us.
EEA/UK rights. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because we hold no data about you ourselves, requests about advertising data should go to Google, which is the controller of it: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We will help where we can — write to us and we will point you to the right place.
Complaints. You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA, where that is the local age of digital consent), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Ads are requested with a content rating limited to "Teen" and the app is not registered as child-directed. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, contact us and we will have it deleted.
Links to other apps and services
The app is a browser for a public movie catalogue. It hands links to other software rather than handling them itself:
torrent links are passed to whichever torrent client you have installed;
trailers open in the YouTube app or website;
IMDb pages and cover images open in your browser or are loaded from the catalogue's own servers.
Once you leave the app, the privacy policy of that app or website applies, not this one. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, what they collect. The app does not send them anything about you beyond the link itself.
The movie catalogue the app reads from is a third-party public API. The app sends it your search terms and filters in order to get results back. It does not send any identifier of you or your device beyond what any ordinary internet request necessarily reveals, such as your IP address.
Retention and security
We hold no personal data, so there is nothing for us to retain. Data collected by Google is kept according to Google's own retention schedules, described in its privacy policy.
All network requests the app makes use encrypted HTTPS connections. The on-device cache is stored in your device's private app storage, which other apps cannot read.
International transfers
Google processes data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, Google relies on its own safeguards, including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. See https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page before they take effect.
