Mount Carbon PTA Needs You!

The Mount Carbon PTA needs volunteers for next school year.  We are looking for people to fill key positions on the board and to chair our events.

Board Positions:

There are 3 open board positions.  These positions must be voted on and filled at our April 19th meeting.  Please reach out to mountcarbonco@gmail.com if you want to learn more or would like to formally nominate yourself before April 10th.

●        President (2-year term)

●        Secretary (2-year term)

●        Communications Director (2-year term)

The President and Secretary roles must be filled for our PTA to function next year.  This includes providing money to the school and hosting all the fun community events at school.

Commitment is typically a few hours a month, which includes meetings.  Being on the board allows you to get to know teachers and staff in the school as well as connect with other parents.  Current and former members of the PTA understand that you are busy.  We all balance family, work, hobbies, PTA, etc.  Being part of the board is a supportive and enjoyable experience and you also have a say in the direction and governance of the PTA.  

We also need volunteers to shadow our current Treasurer (who will be term limited after next year) and our VP of Community Events (student will be in 5th grade) to learn how those roles work.  The expectation is that you would take on the role you shadow starting in the 2024-2025 school year.  This allows for a smooth transition in leadership. Event Chairs

The past 2 school years, the PTA Board members have planned and hosted all the community events.  This has become a burden for the board members, who also have the responsibilities of their board position.  We are looking for 1 or 2 people to chair/co-chair each event next year.  You would be responsible for planning and hosting the event at the school. The PTA Board will provide guidance, a budget, support, and some members of the board will be present at each event to volunteer.  The board is unable to plan and do all the events ourselves next year.  If no one steps up to chair an event, the event will be canceled.   Events include but are not limited to the following:

●        Movie Night (Chair already selected)

●        Fall Festival

●        Holiday Shop

●        Spring Dance

●        Donuts with Dad

●        Muffins with Mom

●        Restaurant Nights

●        Teacher Appreciation Week

●        Conference Dinners

●        Family Night Out

Be on the lookout for a signup genius to chair these events!  If you have questions on the commitment, please reach out to mountcarbonco@gmail.com or attend our next meeting.  If no one volunteers, the event will be canceled.  The PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.  This includes building and sustaining a welcoming and engaged community at Mount Carbon Elementary!
