Announcing a third litter! Annie had 8 puppies and they're ready to be adopted into their furever homes! 🎉🐾
When you bring your puppy home, you want to first make sure that your home is ready for it. Some things you want to make sure to have are:
A puppy area
A puppy-proof house
Puppy food
Dog toys
Food and water bowls
The puppy-proof house and the puppy area are especially important. When preparing your house, think of it like babyproofing it. It is a really good thing to get down on your knees and see the house the way your puppy would see it. This way, you can make sure to tape down cords, put away dish towels, and tidy up the living room. Doing so will prevent a lot of mishaps that could happened otherwise.
Also, your puppy will need prepared areas to sleep, eat, and play. He or she also needs a 'den'-somewhere to go and relax when a break is needed. The rules for these areas must be consistent too. If your puppy can only go on the couch after a bath, but you find her reclining on your sofa after a romp in the rain, it will be difficult for your puppy to know what the rules are. Dogs need consistency to know what's going on.
Before bringing your puppy home, these are some material essentials that you will need ready. Most of these are provided in the Puppy Package that your puppy comes with.
Puppy food
A puppy bed
Puppy toys
Food and water bowls
Waste bags
Kennel or crate (optional but highly recommended)
Brush/comb (almost any regular human brush should work, but some dog brushes are specially designed and work better)
Leash
Other training tools (clicker, treats, etc.)
We've given the puppies pieces of their food as treats so they eat their food and are not picky, but you can give them dog treats as well. Just make sure that your puppy is still eating enough of their food!

*Once your puppy wakes up, he or she will need a potty break.
**For meal time give your puppy about 2/3 cup of food. Let them have the water first, then the food.
Don't limit the water; let your puppy drink as much as he or she would like, and then give him or her the food. Make sure to pick the Leave it down for 5 but no more than 10 minutes, then pick it up.
Also, it is important to bring your puppy out to the bathroom about 10-15 minutes after they eat or drink. To make sure that there aren't accidents, pick up the water after your puppy has had his or her fill.
