Joe Warren
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Joe Warren, a Minnesota native, grew up in Minneapolis and began his soccer journey in junior high. Inspired by his older brother, who was his high school coach, Joe pushed himself to excel and continued his athletic career at the University of St. Thomas. His passion for sports led him to a professional soccer career with the Minnesota Thunder/Minnesota Stars, where he played as a goalkeeper for eleven years.
During his playing career, Joe also coached soccer and basketball at St. Olaf College and various clubs throughout the Twin Cities. After retiring from professional play in 2011, he pursued a master’s degree in K-12 education from St. Thomas and became the goalkeeper coach for Hamline University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams.
Currently, Joe teaches Physical Education and Health at the Mounds View Area Learning Center and runs soccer clinics year-round. His dedication to coaching and his love for soccer are matched only by his enthusiasm for working with the talented players in the Mounds View program. Joe looks forward to another season of helping athletes reach their full potential, both as individuals and as a team.
Joe shares his life with his wife of fourteen years and their three children, who are avid soccer fans and often cheer from the stands.
Erick Stevens
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Erick Stevens brings over 30 years of coaching experience across youth, high school, and college levels to Mounds View High School. A former player at Richfield High School, Augsburg College, and with the MN Tornado, Eric’s has an extensive coaching background that includes stints with St. Paul Blackhawks, Augsburg College, Armstrong High School, and Cretin High School, among others. He has also served as a goalkeeper coach at the University of Northwestern in Roseville and currently coaches at North Suburban Soccer Club.
Since joining Mounds View High School in 2019, Eric has coached in both the girls and boys programs and has been dedicated to mentoring athletes, fostering remarkable character, integrity, and confidence. He is enthusiastic about working with the talented players in the program and helping them grow as players, teammates, and individuals.
Erick lives in Roseville, works at Trane Technologies, and enjoys family life with his wife, Amber, and their five children, including two daughters in the Mounds View Girls soccer program.
Kevin Arnold
Junior Varsity A Team Coach
Coach Kevin Arnold was born in Los Angeles, but began his soccer journey as a youth player on Burford F.C. in Oxfordshire, England. After returning to the US, he started his coaching career with UK International before joining Mounds View High School in 2019. Kevin currently lives in Fridley, MN and has worked as an ESL teacher in the Anoka Hennepin and Columbia Heights School Districts. His coaching philosophy focuses on possession play to involve all players and create scoring opportunities. For the 2024 season, Kevin aims to foster a fluid, team-oriented style that enhances players' skills and soccer IQ.
Glenn Beggin
Junior Varsity B Team Coach
Coach Glenn Beggin brings more than 56 years of coaching experience to the program, with deep roots in Arden Hills where he has lived since 1956. He began playing soccer at Cretin High School, competing in local, national, and international competitions, and continued playing until age 59. A true pioneer, he founded the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association in 1969 and later served on the founding board of the United States Youth Soccer Association. Over the years, he has hosted major events such as the Women’s Challenge Cup (a predecessor to the Women’s World Cup), the Governor’s Cup, and numerous state and regional tournaments, while also refereeing high-level games, including NCAA championships. His coaching journey has included decades of leadership at Irondale, Champlin Park, Andover, St. Francis, and many youth clubs across Minnesota and beyond.
Coach Beggin is passionate about teaching players the skills, techniques, and systems of the game while building their confidence in a fun but challenging way. For the 2025 B Team, his focus is on helping athletes grow in both ability and belief in themselves. Even in retirement, he continues to coach year-round, splitting time between Minnesota and Texas, where he also coaches track and field. Beyond soccer, he has served his community as Chairman of Parks & Recreation in Arden Hills and New Brighton, run a local sporting goods business, and taught countless coaches and referees through licensing programs. With six grandchildren active in sports, he remains a dedicated supporter of youth development both on and off the field.
Candler Bolte
Freshman Coach
Coach Candler Bolte recently relocated to the Twin Cities from Atlanta, where he had been actively coaching youth soccer since 2021. He spent the last few seasons working with developmental and Pre-GA girls at NASA-Tophat Soccer Club, one of the region’s premier youth programs. During the 2023 and 2024 spring seasons, Coach Candler served as the JV head coach and assistant varsity coach for North Atlanta High School’s girls’ soccer program. Prior to his time at Tophat, he coached U14 and U9 boys at Inter Atlanta FC, gaining valuable experience across multiple age groups and competitive levels.
