MOTR-Net Listserv

What is a listserv?

A listserv is a distribution list allowing a group of subscribers to automatically receive by email all messages sent to the list: every message sent to the list by a subscriber is received by all the other subscribers. When subscribed, it is possible to send messages, to reply to them or to read them without contributing (i.e. to "lurk").

How do I subscribe to the MOTR-Net listserv?

    1. Send a message to sympa@mymaillists.usc.edu from the address you want to subscribe to the list.
    2. In the subject line of your message, type: subscribe motrnet-l FirstName LastName (For example: “subscribe motrnet-l John Smith)
    3. Leave the message body blank. (Note: Sympa is not a person but a mailing list management robot, so it is useless to send it loving words!)

How do I send a message to all recipients on the listserv?

Place the listserv e-mail address – motrnet-l@usc.edu - in the “To:” field of your e-mail and compose your e-mail message as usual. The e-mail will either be directed to the listserv to be approved by a moderator or immediately sent out to all members.
