If you want a rugged, waterproof shield for hauling ice fishing gear that won't budge in your SUV, choose Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo; if you need a stylish, lightweight liner with a unique aesthetic for general travel and light cargo, choose WOYUO Universal Car Trunk.
• Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo: Its biggest strength is the heavy-duty rubber polymer construction designed to trap deep water, snow, and mud without leaking; its trade-off is a purely utilitarian black look that offers zero visual flair. This pick is for the serious off-roader or utility driver who prioritizes absolute containment over aesthetics.
• WOYUO Universal Car Trunk: Its biggest strength is the premium polyester fabric with a printed Bohemian Caucasian rug pattern that transforms the trunk into a sophisticated space; its trade-off is a thinner 0.19-inch profile that relies on surface resistance rather than deep dish trapping for liquids. This pick is for the urban commuter or weekend traveler who wants style and easy cleaning but doesn't face extreme muck.
The Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo Liner is built for people who treat their vehicle like a tool. If you own an SUV and spend your weekends heading out to remote locations, this mat is engineered to handle the messiest scenarios imaginable. The core of its design lies in the advanced performance rubber polymer formula. Unlike standard mats that might crack under stress, this material is tested to withstand extreme conditions without splitting or deforming. It remains stable even when exposed to high heat, ensuring there are no unpleasant odors filling up your cabin while you wait in a cold car.
What sets this product apart is the specific engineering around liquid containment. The liner features uniquely designed linear ridges strategically placed within a deep dish. This isn't just a flat piece of rubber; it is a contained basin designed to catch water, melting snow, slush, and mud. When you come back from an ice fishing trip with wet boots and muddy tackle boxes, the deep dish traps everything inside, preventing any leakage or escape into your vehicle's interior carpeting. The linear ridges enhance this trapping ability, keeping the mess where it belongs so you don't have to scrub your floor mats later.
The fit is another critical factor for users who need reliability. This is a universal trim-to-fit model measuring 47.5 inches by 32.2 inches. You aren't stuck with a shape that doesn't match your specific vehicle perfectly. Instead, you use a pair of scissors to cut along the marked lines until you achieve a perfect contour for your floor. Once trimmed, the bottom is equipped with rubberized nibs to ensure the mat stays securely in place during sudden stops or sharp turns. The top surface also features ergonomic grooves that provide enhanced traction, making it safer to walk on if you are loading heavy gear. If you need a mat that does the heavy lifting of protection and stays put regardless of how much weight you throw on it, this is the only logical choice.

On the other end of the spectrum sits the WOYUO Universal Car Trunk Mat, which appeals to drivers who care deeply about the look and feel of their vehicle's interior. While the Motor Trend option is all about brute force protection, the WOYUO mat focuses on durability mixed with design. Measuring 31 inches wide by 47 inches long, it fits most car models with a snug yet flexible profile. The thickness here is notably different at 0.19 inches, creating a lighter footprint that feels less like industrial equipment and more like a decorative accessory.
The standout feature of the WOYUO mat is undoubtedly its material and finish. It is crafted from high-quality polyester fabric rather than heavy rubber. This choice allows for a vibrant, clear print of a Bohemian Caucasian rug pattern. The colors remain bright and will not fade after repeated cleaning, adding a stylish touch to what is often a forgotten storage space. For those who want their trunk to blend seamlessly with their existing decor, transforming a practical area into something more inviting, this patterned approach is superior. It elevates the aesthetic of the rear cargo area, making it feel more sophisticated than a standard black plastic or rubber sheet.
Functionally, the WOYUO mat still delivers on the basics of protection. It effectively blocks sand, water, mud, dust, rain, and stains, ensuring your factory carpet doesn't get scratched or stained. The non-slip base provides a secure grip to keep your belongings from sliding around while driving. However, the cleaning process is distinct due to the fabric nature of the product. Because it is weather-resistant and stain-resistant, you can simply wipe it down with a damp towel or rinse it with water after removing it from the vehicle. It gives your trunk a brand new look quickly and easily. This makes it ideal for families who carry sports gear, groceries, or camping equipment that gets dirty but doesn't necessarily involve deep submersion in freezing slush. It is the perfect balance for someone who wants their trunk protected without sacrificing the visual appeal of their car's interior.

• Best for visual customization → WOYUO Universal Car Trunk (Bohemian Caucasian rug pattern adds style).
• Best for heavy-duty durability → Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo (crack-free rubber polymer resists deformation).
• Best for lightweight flexibility → WOYUO Universal Car Trunk (thin 0.19-inch profile fits various shapes easily).
• Best for odor resistance in heat → Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo (BPA-free formula ensures no smell in high temps).
• Best for quick wiping → WOYUO Universal Car Trunk (fabric wipes clean instantly with a damp towel).
• Best for trimming to exact contours → Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo (cut along marked lines for a custom fit).
• Best for preventing sliding items → Both offer non-slip bases, but WOYUO relies on fabric friction while Motor Trend uses rubberized nibs.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the Motor Trend FlexTough SUV Cargo. While the WOYUO mat looks beautiful and works well for light daily use, the engineering behind the Motor Trend liner is simply more robust for anyone facing real-world elements. The deep dish design and the heavy rubber polymer composition offer a level of security against water and debris that a thin polyester mat cannot match. I recommend the Motor Trend FlexTough specifically for ice fishing trips, where the combination of melting snow, wet gear, and freezing temperatures requires a barrier that won't leak or freeze solid. It is the smarter investment for protecting your vehicle's interior from the harshest conditions.
The Motor Trend mat measures 0.5 inches thick and is designed primarily for SUVs, vans, and larger vehicles due to its substantial rubber construction and trim-to-fit nature.
No, the product is crafted with a BPA-free rubber polymer formula that is tested to be 100% odorless, even in high heat, ensuring no harsh smells enter your vehicle.
Yes, the WOYUO mat features a non-slip base designed to provide a secure grip and prevent belongings from shifting while driving, though it is thinner than rubber alternatives.
