MØTNL3SS was created as part of my Personal Project to explore how design can support grounding and mindfulness for teenagers. I chose this project after seeing people I care about struggle with anxiety. Watching friends or family feel overwhelmed motivated me to create something intentionally simple and accessible, designed to offer support during everyday moments.
I wanted to design a subtle, wearable piece that feels supportive without being obvious or clinical. The bracelets are intentionally minimal and meant to encourage stillness, breath, and presence throughout the day. The bracelets are not meant to fix stress, but rather to serve as a small, intentional reminder to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment.
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health challenges for teens. Did you know that nearly 1 in 3 U.S. teens has experienced an anxiety disorder? Source: National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
Teenage years often bring increased stress from school, social pressure, and major life changes, which has been intensified by the pandemic and social media.
While anxiety is sometimes temporary, it can become overwhelming for some teens, making simple coping tools like grounding and breathing techniques especially helpful.
The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding method uses your senses to bring your attention back to the present moment. By focusing on what you can see, feel, hear, smell, and taste, it helps interrupt racing thoughts and calm your nervous system.
This method:
Breaks cycles of anxious or racing thoughts
Helps you feel more present and grounded
Encourages your body to move out of “fight or flight”
Gives you a simple tool you can use anywhere
Move one bead at a time and focus on:
5 things you can see
4 things you can feel
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
Breath Bead
When you reach the slightly larger bead, pause, hold the bead, and take one slow breath in and one slow breath out.
This bead marks a moment of stillness and can be used on its own whenever you need to calm your body and mind. The bracelet can be used from start to finish, or you can simply use the breath bead as a quick grounding tool during stressful moments.
Use it whenever you feel overwhelmed or unfocused.
The bracelet can be used flexibly, allowing each person to engage with it in a way that feels most helpful to them.
If you received a MØTNL3SS bracelet, your anonymous feedback helps improve the design and grounding experience.
Your feedback is an important part of this Personal Project. It helps evaluate the design, clarity, and effectiveness of the grounding bracelet and guides future improvements. Your responses support reflection and learning throughout the project.
Collecting feedback allows me to evaluate how effective the design is in real-world use and identify areas for improvement. Please take 1–2 minutes to share your experience and help me improve. Thank you!

Your feedback is completely anonymous. Bracelets were handed out randomly, and there’s no way to know who received one. No names, email addresses, or identifying information is collected or tracked at any time.
Responses are used only for reflection and learning as part of this Personal Project.
If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available, and you don’t have to handle it alone.
