MOTIKA ANAND
String Artist
String Art also called pin and thread art is a form of decorative art where nails are driven into a wooden board and thread is strung around the nails to form a delicate and interesting pattern.
Motika Anand is an award winning string art artist, who draws upon her insight with numbers and years of working in finance, to create unique and finely tuned algorithms for her artwork. She began with an art project at 13 years old in school. During COVID she again picked the craft up. Feeling inspired by other artists' work, she soon found herself pushing through the traditional boundaries to create her own algorithms and designs. Each piece is made of recycled backing (wood, nails, ribbons, or thread). Motika’s works have been exhibited across the northwest suburbs of metropolitan Chicago. She also creates youtube videos to teach others how to create string art, and records stories in Hindi to help preserve the Hindi Literature.
