A great way to simplify weather prediction to kids!
I am interested in ICON-NWP/Seamless and ICON-GCM in the applications of mid-latitude weather variability. Particularly, the latest sudden stratospheric warming in 2024 was represented in ICON-NWP at lead time 5 days.

I am currently working on Stratosphere-Troposphere coupling during wintertime weak polar vortex events. The aim is to discover new mechanisms and precursors to predict sudden stratospheric warming events.

I am also working on trying to quantify how important convection mechanism is during extreme Mediterranean cyclones events in summertime, and how the role of convection will change under climate warming.
