Field of Study

The chosen professional field within this project is public health, more specifically lack of public health resources and how it ultimately affected society. The field of study of public health is included in the overall discipline of healthcare. Public health is commonly related to disparities in the population like food insecurity, inadequate hygiene, and limited resources. It is also related to politics, justice and the sciences surrounding diseases and medication. Public health is an important contributor to society. It controls society's access to health care, emergency services, campaigns to warn or help in regard to health related subjects, epidemiological statistics, and in some cases, even finances. Public health controls how governments govern the healthcare system according to the state of medicine (What is public health? 2024). There are many careers that are available in public health. For example, a statistician, who works with health statistics or a member of the CDC, who works in public relations and education (What can you do with a public health degree? 2024). A career that relates to my critical issue includes a community outreach health worker. My critical issue involves a population who had little information and resources during a health crisis. In this position, someone would help educate a population regarding a health crisis, test for disease, and provide medical resources to communities who lack access.
