Problem Statement
According to the CDC, there are up to 13 diseases and 3 parasites that are directly transmitted by mosquitos and their bites. Of up to the 500 million people affected by these diseases each year, over a million of these cases are fatal. Because of the nature of their size, and how widespread they are, this is a worldwide issue.
Introduction
The purpose of this research was to focus my attention in design on what real people need. My questions were created with the goal of learning more on how people felt about both mosquitos and ways to get rid of them. For the sake of defending my designs viability, I included question on whether they believed the larger issue of mosquito’s presence was something that needed to be addressed. The results of this survey will help to gain a better understanding in what to prioritize when finalizing my design.
Market Research
This survey was conducted by 32 different volunteers between February Saturday 13th 2021 and Saturday 20th 2021. The results of this survey are as shown below
Conclusions
After the results of survey were finalizing, I began to gain a better understanding of what to focus on. The most interesting results were those that asked of what they would prioritize and how they felt about previous attempts to exterminate mosquitos. In that, I gathered the information that people valued efficiency, and use spray repellants. Both can be achieved with my already established concept I had first designed. The survey backed up the same ideas I had initially believed in when creating my concepts. Further information gathered, secured my standing that fixing this issue is necessary and a better solution to deal with it is needed.
