App: Mosque Finder

This policy explains what data the Mosque Finder mobile application collects, why it is collected, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can have it deleted. It applies only to the Mosque Finder Android app and the Faith Devs service at mosque.faithdevs.com that the app talks to.
Mosque Finder has no user accounts and no sign-up. You can use every core feature without giving us any identifying information.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. It does not collect your advertising ID, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
The only data sent off your device is what a feature needs in order to answer: your approximate coordinates when you ask for nearby content, and the content you deliberately submit.
Your settings, prayer preferences, Zakat figures, tasbih counts and saved places stay on your device.
1. Location
What: Your device's approximate or precise coordinates (latitude and longitude), obtained through the Android location permission. Granting the permission is optional; if you decline, you can instead set a location manually and every feature except "nearest to me" continues to work.
Why: To list mosques and events near you, to compute the Qibla direction, to calculate prayer times for your position, to show your position on the map, to display a route to a mosque you have selected, and to translate coordinates into a readable place name.

Google Maps SDK for Android and the Google Routes API — to render the map and compute directions.
Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com) — to obtain sunrise and sunset times for your position.
LocationIQ — our server forwards coordinates to LocationIQ to obtain a place name for a submitted mosque.
Coordinates are used to answer the request in hand. We do not build a location history, and we do not join your coordinates to an identity, because we do not hold one.
Stored on your device: your last known position, any home or manual location you set, and their labels. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes them.
2. Content you submit
What: Mosque listings (name, address, coordinates, category, facilities, jamat times), event listings, lecture video links, and photographs of mosques.
Why: To publish them in the app for other users, after moderator review.
Photographs are chosen through the Android photo picker, so the app never receives access to your photo library as a whole — only the single image you pick. The image is resized on your device before upload. Submissions are public by nature: do not include personal information, and do not upload photographs of identifiable people.
Submissions are stored on our server for as long as the listing remains in the app.
3. Moderator sign-in
What: If you are a Faith Devs moderator, the passkey you enter is exchanged for an access token.
Why: To authorise approving, editing and removing submissions.
The token is stored encrypted on your device (AES-256), is excluded from Android backup, and expires. Signing out deletes it. This applies only to moderators; ordinary users never sign in.
4. Server logs
Like any web service, our API records standard request information — including IP address, timestamp and the endpoint called — for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and are not used to profile users.
5. On-device only
The following never leave your device: theme and language, prayer calculation method and madhab, notification and adhan preferences, prayer time offsets, traveller (musafir) settings, your display name, pinned mosque, Zakat calculator figures, tasbih counts, reciter choice and downloaded Quran audio.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, files, health data, financial account details, or your advertising identifier. Prayer times, the Qibla direction and the Hijri calendar are computed on your device.
Using certain features causes a request to be made to the service listed below, which reveals your IP address to that service and, where noted, your coordinates. Each has its own privacy policy.
Google Maps SDK for Android — displays the map. Receives your coordinates and IP address.
Google Routes API — computes directions to a mosque. Receives the origin and destination coordinates and your IP address.
Open-Meteo — provides sunrise and sunset times. Receives your coordinates and IP address.
LocationIQ, called by our server — turns a submitted location into a place name. Receives the coordinates.
MP3Quran (mp3quran.net) — serves Quran recitation audio. Receives your IP address.
Islamic Network CDN (cdn.islamic.network) — serves Quran recitation audio. Receives your IP address.
YouTube — plays lecture videos, opened in your browser or the YouTube app. Receives your IP address.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
Location (precise / approximate) — nearby mosques and events, Qibla, prayer times, the map and directions. Optional.
Notifications — prayer time and Sunnah reminders. Optional.
Exact alarms — firing a prayer reminder at the exact prayer time.
Run at startup — re-scheduling prayer reminders after a restart.
Foreground service (media playback) — playing the adhan and Quran recitation with a media control notification.
Foreground service (data sync) — completing a Quran audio download you started.
Wake lock — keeping the device awake long enough to fire a reminder.
Internet / network state — fetching mosques, events, videos and audio.
Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Moderator tokens are encrypted at rest on the device and excluded from device backups. Server access is restricted and write operations require a moderator token. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users of any breach that materially affects them.
On-device data: removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
Submitted listings and photographs: kept while the listing is published.
Server logs: up to 30 days.
To have a submission or photograph removed, or to ask what we hold about a submission you made, email faithdevsinfo@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the listing. We respond within 30 days. Because the app has no accounts, we may be unable to link other data to you — this is by design.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Exercise any of these by emailing faithdevsinfo@gmail.com. Location permission can be granted or revoked at any time in Android Settings, and notification and adhan settings can be changed inside the app.
Mosque Finder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Our servers and the third-party services listed above may process data outside your country. We rely on the safeguards those providers publish for such transfers.
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
