Mohamed embarked on his academic journey at Benha University in Egypt, where he obtained his B.Sc in chemistry in 2013. Eager to delve deeper into the world of science, he furthered his studies in Turkey, earning an M.Sc in Biochemistry from Gebze Technical University in 2017 and a Ph.D. in medical biotechnology from Acibadem University in 2021.
Throughout his academic pursuit, Mohamed's passion for research led him to various international institutions. He served as a visitor researcher at the National Research Council of Italy, Girona University in Spain, and the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. In 2022, Mohamed joined the Amaro Lab at UCSD as a postdoctoral scholar, where his focus lies in the application and development of cutting-edge computational techniques to characterize viral glycoproteins such as SARS-CoV-2 spike and HIV-1 Envelope proteins. He also applies machine learning and alchemical free energy calculations for protein and drug design.Â
