Prof. Moshe Gavish

Moshe Gavish received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a Ph.D. degree from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot followed by a postdoctoral period at John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore in the laboratory of Solomon Snyder. After the postdoctoral period he received a position of a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine in the Technion institute of Technology and in 1998 received a full professor position. His main field of research is the 18KD translocator protein (TSPO), demonstrating the role of this protein in cell proliferation, steroid synthesis, apoptosis, cancer and neuro-degeneration. The lab developed a drug delivery system based on liposomes for the treatment of neuro-degenerative and brain diseases.
