About Mosaics on Main

Mosaics on Main is a collaboration among local artists, the Downtown Business District of Middletown, CT, and the broader community of Middletown to create tile mosaics exploring and depicting the history of Middletown through the lens of what can be found below the surface of the Earth. The purpose of the project is to make works of public art that examine who we are, where we come from, and our place in the grander scheme from prehistoric times to the present moment.

Currently, these works as they are developed will be displayed in empty storefronts on Main Street. Funding has been provided by the Connecticut State Legislature through funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, and is administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts.
