The approach to leadership is simple. Create a Team First atmosphere with athletes that have a Want To mentality. It is simpler said than done. In order to achieve this, we must first understand what a Want To is:
Want To’s: Athletes that “want to” succeed, achieve more, and be leaders. Show up because they “want to”.
Have To’s: Students that “have to” work out and be there because their coaches say so, and or others. They would not show up for any other reason.
“Can’t Do’s”: Students that have poor attendance, don’t act right, and are a negative influence on the program. Always use the word “Can’t”
Eliminate the Can’t Do’s and Have To’s in order to be successful.
Students that display traits of Want To receive a "DAWWG" ITEM
Effect: More students want to work hard and do right in order to receive a"DAWWG" status. "DAWWG" status becomes similar to peer pressuring others that are doing wrong to start doing right.
