No, you do not have to be a member to attend a PTSA meeting or volunteer. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Official PTSA members have voting privileges, and California PTA perks. To continue operating the PTA we need 15 official members by October 5th. The cost of a membership is $15.
HOW CAN I HELP THE PTSA?
To directly help the PTA check the Get Involved tab for direct help. For volunteer opportunities, please fill out our PTSA Volunteer Form. Attend a meeting and decide what you can help with.
HOW MUCH COMMITMENT IS THE PTSA?
Commitment is up to you. Commit to what you can complete. If you can only help clean up at an event or setup, that is okay. Have awesome computer skills or crafting skills? Come help out the PTSA. Maybe computer and drawing is not your style, you can volunteer to buy stuff and drop it off at school. The more parents volunteer means the workload for the PTSA Officers lessens.
We meet the 1st WEDNESDAY of the month* at 6:30pm. Click the meeting tab for the meeting information.
WHERE CAN I FIND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES?
Please fill out our PTSA Volunteer Form and the PTSA will reach out to you. Check out website for updates. Email morrillptsa@gmail.com stating you would like to help. You can also attend a PTSA meeting.
A general meeting is the monthly PTSA meeting where parents, teacher rep, students and principal attend. An Executive Board Meeting or Board Meeting refers to an only PTSA Officers meeting.
The Executive Board is made up of PTSA Officers, students and parents who commit to completing Official PTSA work in order to operate our organization. The Board discusses the Budget for the school and how to implement activities. Without the Executive Board there is no PTSA and if there is no PTSA the funds are then frozen until an Executive Board is assembled. Each position maxes out at 2 years. A PTSA Officer does not need to complete 2 years but most often they decide to stay for 2 years. Students cannot run the position of President or Treasurer.
To be part of the Board you must either be Elected or Voted in by the PTSA. Talk to a PTSA Officer and let them know you are interested or contact morrillptsa@gmail.com to get more information.
We understand that families at Morrill have multiple siblings and at various schools. Your child is welcome to be with you while volunteering, permitting that the job is not requiring a difficult build.
