The hybrid children born of the union between guardians and bipeds, godborne are an incredible scarcity, and a social enigma.
The existence of godborne is incredibly rare as guardians having progeny is considered incredibly strange in the first place (as it is discouraged socially and morally by the guardians overall). Still, in the oft chance relationships do form between guardians and bipeds form, godborne emerge.
All godborne have expanded lifespans like guardians, but can and will pass away to age unlike them. Because they’re cross-breeds between a guardian and another biped in this world, they are also proficient in their parent’s element, although their initial strength is nothing compared to the natural ability of their parents. Since they’re essentially genetic hybrids, they can never have progeny of their own. Notably, godborne have their guardian parent’s shifting abilities, although this range increases even further, and thus, godborne are even more ‘fluid’ in form.
[descriptive text will go here.]
Most godborne resemble a behem in one form, and omun in another. Some godborne with a corridae parent can assume a corridae form, but more commonly, will sport a spire (or more) in ‘behem’ form.
Godborne have a guardian form that is non-bipedal, but often, this form is tied to panic states and cannot be accessed willingly. Godborne guardian forms are also rather small in comparison to the leviathanic sizes of regular guardians.
Like their parents, Godborne sport a crown. However, a godborne crown is typically smaller in size, and unlike their parents, can fade/flicker if subdued mentally, making it harder to see. Additionally, with a rather intensive amount of focus, a godborne can choose to dismiss their crown so it isn’t visible (the amount of conscious effort to hide a crown is the equivalent of solving calculus problems while giving a lecture about colour theory: it takes immense amounts of brain power used to do this).
In contrast to the reverence shown to guardians, godborne are often seen as incredibly strange and most bipeds have no idea what to make of them; most commonly, someone will see them as a strange omun/behemen/corridae and will be even more baffled when they change their form. People don’t really know what to make of them, since guardians aren’t supposed to have progeny in the first place (even though they very much can).
The public attitude towards godborne is mostly a solid 'well, this exists', and since their existence has been incredibly sporadic over millennia, they're not even well known to be probable within a large amount of common society.
People just don’t know what to make of them!
Other guardians (than their parent, who will usually treat them quite nicely) may choose to treat godborne with kindness (after all, it isn’t their fault for existing and they are family), and with open arms. However, their existence is still awkward all the same, and some may be more hostile towards Godborne.
Some godborne have made history, some godborne have faded into obscurity; some choose to live mundane lives in spite of their crowns and abilities. Whatever they choose their lives to be, godborne always live in understanding their place in the world as an oddity, for better or worse.
