Universal Pre-K (UPK) is available for all 4-5 year olds in Colorado and offers free preschool to all chidren the year before Kindergarten. For the 2025-2026 school year, this means children who turn 4 before October 1, 2025 are eligible! Your child does not have to be starting Kindergarten the following year — you can still join UPK and go at your own pace. It’s all about supporting your child’s learning, whenever they’re ready.

Universal Preschool Colorado launched in 2023 and it is such a success, the program will continue for the 2024 school year. Children are eligible for tuition-free preschool or Pre-K the year before they are eligible for kindergarten. UPK allows families to choose the right setting for their child.
Programs for four year olds are in preschools, child care centers and home childcares. Programs for three year olds are in Poudre School District Elementary schools.

Every child is eligible tuition free preschool the year before they are eligible for Kindergarten. Colorado tax payers fund up to15 hours of preschool for the 2024-25 school year. Morning Glory Preschool offers Tuesday/Thursday and Monday/Wednesday/Friday UPK spots.
Universal Preschool Colorado allows parents to choose which preschool they'd like their child to attend, or they can allow the system to choose for them based on demographics they enter into the system. Applications will be open in January 2024 for Fall 2024.
