The Kikuletwa (Chemka) Hot Springs are the perfect day trip from Arusha or Moshi (40 kilometers away from Moshi) with crystal clear water and lush jungle scenery. perfect spot to escape for a day tour. The water is spacious and very tempting to swim in, and the weather is also tropical and perfect for swimming sessions.
One of the most stunning spots in Tanzania to unwind is at the hot springs of Kikuletwa, also known as Chemka Hot Springs, which are adjacent to the settlement of Rundugai. Palm and fig trees with intertwining roots encircle the tiny pond. Bring your bathing suit because there are frequently fewer visitors in the morning, and you may enjoy the turquoise, crystal-clear water, which begs you to have a relaxing bath. Despite being referred to as "hot springs," Kikuletwa's water is really pleasant rather than heated because Kilimanjaro itself supplies the water source. Use the rope swing to hone your water entrance techniques, or just unwind in one of the swimming rings. It's an extraordinary encounter, the kind you won't soon forget.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha early in the morning after breakfast for the hour-long drive to the Chemka Hot Springs. During the drive, don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful scenery and authentic Tanzanian life as it unfolds along the road.
After checking in, you'll linger at the springs' edge, taking in the blue waters and the lush greenery of the surrounding forest. Take a leisurely swim (don’t forget that the waters are very warm, so you won’t feel like an Olympic sprint) or float in a world that’s all your own, listening to the water lapping and the birds overhead. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not play on the rope swing? Playing isn’t just for kids!
The pond can be very deep, in some places up to 10 meters, but the water is so clear that you can see right to the bottom. At noon (13h30), you'll eat your lunch in the shade of the trees or, if you’re a sun bunny, find a hot spot all your own; later, you'll drive back to Arusha or depend on your flight. The ride to the hot springs takes about an hour and 30 minutes and leads partly over bumpy slopes.
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon doing whatever you want in the sun, chatting with the locals at the small bar, or swimming—the choice is yours. We leave the hot springs in the late afternoon (just before sunset). Don’t forget your swimwear, hiking shoes, and a towel.
