Morhaf Aljber is a PhD candidate at the Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society, Hiroshima University, Japan. He earned his master's in engineering from the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering at Hiroshima University.
Morhaf specialises in CFD simulation, numerical modelling, and GIS spatial analysis. His research spans marine renewable energy and focuses on tidal power, coastal hazards, tsunamis, and ocean engineering.
During his master's programme, he investigated the interaction between the tsunami run-up waves and coastal structures using the Basilisk flow solver. His study incorporated three different numerical models and developed a framework for better predicting tsunami arrival times. Additionally, Morhaf studied and identified the optimal locations for tidal power in the Seto Inland Sea in Japan with multi-criteria analysis.
During his Ph.D. studies, Morhaf is focusing on the economic feasibility of tidal power generation in the Seto Inland Sea. His interests include the potential contribution of tidal power to the energy sector in Japan, the barriers that delay the adoption, and the solution for integrated tidal power potential.
Currently, his research focuses on the optimal tidal power alignment and configuration.
