More4lessCu Project had its 2nd (hybrid) Consortium Meeting at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Partners from Babes-Bolyai University (Romania), BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus (India), Swerim AB (Sweden), Stegra (Sweden), CSIC(Spain), and Aditya Birla Science & Technology Company Pvt Ltd (India), joined the event. It was 2 days (29th and 30th of October), kicked off by WP leaders and their teams presenting their developments in the mornings, opening for discussions for equalizing design and parameters, and fine-tuning details to ensure that the proposed process for decarbonizing copper production runs smoothly. It was days of very fulfilling intense technical conversations and nice shared moments. We are happy to conclude this meeting with positive results and clear action plan for the following months
The first More4LessCu consortium meeting was held in hybrid mode, hosted by BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, India. It was an intensive 2-day meeting discussing the work performed from the start of the project and planning ahead for the next 6 months. We discussed about the design conditions and how they will affect overall integrated process for decarbonizing copper smelting via the use of green hydrogen and carbon capture and utilization. The meeting was followed by a technical visit to the Hindalco Industries Limited Birla Copper facility in Dahej, Gujarat, India. The team had a great opportunity to discuss with the Operation’s team on the potential of implementing the envisioned More4LessCu technology in the existing copper smelting processes. It was an enriching experience to visualize the scale of copper extraction and refining.
