It doesn’t take much to get a MaGiCS chapter going. You don’t need loads of experience or fancy skills — just a willingness to show up, learn along the way, and make space for others. Beginner-friendly, low-pressure, and shaped by your local community.
MaGiCS chapters at their core are informal, inclusive, queer-friendly, community-led line dancing spaces that are a safe for everyone.
*Keep in mind, we are not a legal organisation — just shared branding, values, and format to help people create welcoming dance spaces.
Starting a MaGiCS chapter gives you support, visibility, and connection, without giving up local control. If we're a good fit, you get:
🌈 Use of the MaGiCS name and branding
So people recognise the vibe and values straight away.
🧰 A simple Starter Pack
Optional session structure, values, setup tips, and templates — take what’s useful, ignore the rest.
🌍 Listing on the MaGiCS website
Your chapter appears with your location, contact email, photo, and Google Calendar so people can find you easily.
📣 A place to share updates and cancellations
Through your local Discord channel and shared community space.
🤝 Connection to other chapters
Swap dances, playlists, ideas, and learn from what’s worked elsewhere.
💛 A shared values framework
Helps set expectations around inclusion, care, and safety without needing to reinvent the wheel.
What you don’t get (and don’t owe):
No hierarchy or reporting
No fees or contracts
No legal structure
No pressure to teach a certain way
No obligation to be active in Discord
You’re running your own local thing — MaGiCS just helps make it easier to start and easier to find. ✨
The Expression of Interest Form just asks the following:
Name & Pronouns
eMail Address
City / Location
Tell us a little about yourself or why you want to start a MaGiCS chapter...
Note any relevant experience or whether you have access to a good place for dancing in mind, or if it's already organised (*optional)
Agreement with MaGiCS core values [checkbox]
Once approved you'll be sent the start-up guide via email with access to branding, flyers, resources for learning and teaching (that are optional to use), as well as a short admin checklist to complete; mostly instructions for setting up a gmail account and calender for your new Chapter!
Looking forward to having you spread the love of line dancing with us by expanding MaGiCS where you are <3
