Justice C.K. Thakker Moot and Mediation Competition – 2nd Edition (Flagship Event)

The 2nd Justice C.K. Thakkar Moot and Mediation Competition 2025, hosted by the Moot Court Society and the Board of ADR at NMIMS School of Law, Bengaluru, is a one-of-a-kind event that seamlessly blends legal advocacy with alternative dispute resolution. The competition commenced with a Memorial Elimination Round, from which 12 top-performing teams were invited to the NMIMS Bengaluru campus for the in campus rounds. Students from some of the most prestigious law schools across the country participated, showcasing their skills in both Moot Court and Mediation. The event provided a dynamic platform for participants to demonstrate legal reasoning, negotiation, and oratory. O.P. Jindal Global Law School was awarded the title of Best Moot and Mediate Team, reflecting the high standard of competition and excellence.

Our flagship event brought together premier law institutions, including top NLUs and private universities, in a dynamic blend of mooting and mediation. After rigorous online shortlisting, 16 elite teams competed in the on-campus rounds judged by senior advocates, law firm partners, and legal scholars. The event was a grand success, delivering a transformative experience that upheld our vision of legal excellence and innovation.

1st National Virtual Moot Court Competition (2020)

Organized in collaboration with M Mulla Associates during the peak of the pandemic, this event marked our foray into virtual mooting. Held from 11th to 13th September 2020, it drew 254 teams nationwide and was graced by Hon’ble (Retd.) Justice Kurian Joseph. It showcased how technology can bridge gaps and elevate legal education in challenging times.

1st Judgment Writing Competition

This competition invited participants to think like judges—crafting reasoned, well-structured judgments on complex legal issues. It helped students sharpen their analytical and writing skills, offering a practical insight into the judicial decision-making process.

1st Policy Drafting Competition

Fostering policy-level thinking, this event encouraged students to design legislative or administrative frameworks addressing real-world challenges. Participants learned to balance legality, feasibility, and social impact, simulating the role of policy advisors and legal reformers.

1st Memorial Drafting Competition

Conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Law and Policy Research, Bangalore, this competition tested participants on clarity, structure, and persuasiveness in written advocacy. It emphasized rigorous legal research and formatting, replicating real moot memorial drafting.

1st Legal Opinion Drafting Competition

In association with Legacy Law Offices, this competition challenged students to apply their legal knowledge in advising hypothetical clients. It focused on providing structured, actionable legal advice and enhanced participants' understanding of professional legal practice.

Intra and National Moot x Mediate Competition

Organized with The Board of ADR, this unique competition combined mooting with mediation to simulate the dual facets of dispute resolution. Participants developed critical skills in argumentation and negotiation, reflecting the evolving demands of legal practice.
