Mission Statement

The Moorpark Bananas Baseball Program will build young ball players into strong men of character through the game of baseball. We will develop each player’s talent and skill so the team competes at a high level of travel league baseball. We will emphasize being competitive, gritty, and tough in both practices and games. The Moorpark Bananas will demonstrate good sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Player Development Goals

BE A LEADER- Exhibit a great example to the rest of the team of hard work, discipline, selflessness, and sportsmanship.
BE MENTALLY TOUGH- Have the ability to succeed or fail while not letting either influence their effort or attitude.
BE A COMPETITOR- Having a strong determination to succeed in potentially stressful situations and an even stronger desire to improve in all facets of their game.
BE AGGRESSIVE- Playing the game with no fear. Hustling in and out of the dugout, running hard down the baseline, sliding into a base, diving for balls on defense, and swinging with the goal of doing damage to the other team.
BE DEDICATED- Being on time for practice, getting in great shape, working on skills by yourself both offensively and defensively.

Expectations of Parents

Parents are expected to be supportive of their sons and the coaches. Parents need to trust that each player on the Bananas will be treated with dignity and respect. Parents are free to ask questions of coaches, however, before and immediately after games is not allowed. Parents need to understand that coaches will make decisions based on what they think is best for the team. Parents are encouraged to work with their sons and/or find outside coaching that will aid their sons in addition to our practices. Parents will acknowledge that there are no guarantees of playing time or favorite positions.

Expectations of Coaches

Coaches will...

Be positive role models for each and every player and demonstrate class both on and off the field.
Always protect the physical/mental health and safety of each player above all other things.
Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Coach from a positive perspective and instill life lessons of hard work and perseverance for every player.
Represent the Moorpark Bananas positively on and off the field.
Give each player and parent an honest evaluation and the steps necessary for improvement.
