ABOUT MONTY BENNETT

Henderson County and Dallas, Texas native Monty Bennett is a prominent hotel mogul. His teams own, manage, and operate approximately 100 hotels around the United States through Ashford, Inc., Ashford Hospitality Trust, and Braemar Hotels and Resorts.

His portfolio of luxury residences may be traced back to the late 1960s. In the following decades, Bennett took the family firm public and developed it from six to over 130 hotels. He and his colleagues also run thirteen resorts in six states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bennett is a graduate of Cornell University. The hotel magnate was one of seven children raised in Houston, Texas. He currently splits his time between Dallas, Texas, and Athens, Georgia, an hour southeast of the city he and his growing family have called home for over three decades.

Monty is the founder and chairman of Braemar Hotels & Resorts, the founder and chairman of Ashford Hospitality Trust, and the chief executive officer of Ashford, Inc.

Monty Bennett established Braemar Hotels & Resorts as an outgrowth of Ashford Hospitality Trust in 2013. Under his direction, the firm has thirteen properties. The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe in Nevada County, California, are included in these assets.

Monty started Ashford Hospitality Trust in 2003. The trust owns mostly premium, full-service hotels. Ashford Hospitality Trust was listed in 2013. The business owns about 110 properties, including The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, W Hotel Atlanta, and Renaissance Nashville Hotel.

He is a Cornell Hotel Society member for life.
