For Parents and Young Women
We hope all young women in our stake will attend camp! Friends may attend as well with permission from your home ward bishop and the stake camp directors.
Here are some things that parents and daughters need to be aware of about the week at camp:
Participation: Girls are expected to participate in the full camp program including all hikes, duties, campfires, and other activities. Girls are not to leave the camp perimeters. A buddy system is used while at camp.
Respect: Girls are expected to appreciate their surroundings and to help keep Rucker Lake Camp a beautiful place to be. They are to be respectful and courteous, not only to other campers but to counselors and staff who volunteer their time, talents and energy to ensure the safety, well-being and enjoyment of all campers.
Moral / Dress Code: The guidelines in “For the Strength of Youth” pamphlet are the standard at camp. Problems with regard to the Word of Wisdom, profanity or other inappropriate language, moral infractions, stealing, lying or other dishonesty and other camp rules will be cause for parents to come pick up their daughter from camp.
Do not bring to camp: Cell Phone, iPod, radio, curling iron, hair dryer, video games, headsets or any other electrical equipment, money, jewelry or anything else of value.
Medications: All medications (prescription and non-prescription) must be checked into the nurses upon arrival at camp in their original prescription container with the label intact. The nurses have over-the-counter medicines that will be given out as needed. All medicine at camp must be dispensed by a nurse.
Bishops will review camp rules with each YW in his ward, and she will need to indicate with her signature that she will commit to keeping the rules prior to attending camp.
