During the past summer a small group of 14 students and our teacher visited the small village of La Cumbre in the rural Dominican Republic. We stayed with host families, each of which had two or three students, for the duration of our trip. La Cumbre is very close to Monte Llano, and for two days we visited the High School students at their school in Monte Llano. The students and staff were very welcoming and were all very happy to come back to school and meet us even though they were on summer break as well. For lunch on those two days two students from our group would go to the homes of one of the students to eat lunch with them and their families. The student's families were equally as happy to see us and get to know us. Everyone in that community was so welcoming and did everything they could to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The students even came to La Cumbre the day before we left to tell us goodbye. Because of their immense hospitality we want to do something for them, and actual running water would help them immensely.
