The Montgomery Area Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the heritage and history of the White Deer and Black Hole Valleys, including Washington, Clinton, and Brady Townships, and Montgomery Borough in Lycoming County and Gregg Township, Union County, Pennsylvania. We particularly specialize in the history of the lost town of Alvira and the surrounding area which was confiscated through eminent domain by the federal government in 1941 to make way for a munitions plant during WWII.
