Xolotl begin as monochromatic in color, once the 'soul' or human memory has settled into their new anthropomorphic, canine-like bodies their fur begins to change color and design to fit the 'soul' of each individual xolotl.
Xolotl also have a "monster" form that is more canine in appearance and significantly larger. It is a transformed state that can be activated through force of will or in response to strenuous circumstances. Most Xolotl prefer their bipedal forms though a few spend most if not all of their lives in this state.
The most drastic change occurs in their internal physiology, their blood and organ systems are at this point composed of the element of their type, meaning a water elemental Xolotl would contain pure water, a light type would be filled with a brilliant, blinding light, a gravity type would essentially be a living black hole (though strangely, having no large-scale effects on the earth). Naturally, this greatly enhances their elemental powers
