MONSTER MATCH

A board game that combines classic dating games

with everyone's favorite monsters.

The Goal

My plan for this semester was to create an entire board game from scratch. This would include a board, card designs, instructional booklet, packaging, and product photography.

The Board

I went through many iterations for the board design, but this was the one I ultimately settled on. I purchased a blank board from Amazon and printed the design on vinyl then attached it to the board.

Monster Cards

I chose a list of my favorite monsters and illustrated them in Procreate then transferred to Illustrator to finish the cards.

Player Cards

I came up with a list of characters I thought would be interesting to play with. I illustrated in Procreate then transferred to Illustrator.

Chance Cards

All of these cards were created in Illustrator. I wanted them to have positive and negative consequences for the players.

Gift Cards

These cards are intended to be given to the monster the players are competing to date. Each card gives different point amounts.

Food Cards

These cards are intended to be collected at the restaurant stops. Each card gives different point amounts.

Panorama Cards

These cards are intended to represent going on a date with the monster. Each card collected gives the player more points.

Compliment Cards

These cards are intended to be ways for players to get an easy 1 or 2 extra points, which is indicated in the bottom right of the cards.

The Box

The box came together pretty fast, I had the idea of showcasing some of the monsters players could compete for on the front kind of like showing the bachelors in a dating game and liked it so much it ended up being the final design. The back is relatively simple, it showcases the board along with a few of the card designs. It also gives a list of included items in the box, recommended number of players, age requirements, and a general time it takes to play the game. I also included the bar code and all required legal information to make it seem more finalized.
