This Privacy Policy explains how the "SleepSound" mobile application (the "App"), developed and operated by monmonapps (the "Developer", "we", "us", or "our"), accesses, collects, uses, shares, retains, and allows you to delete information when you use the App. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
SleepSound is a sleep-sound playback app. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, or other personal contact details. The App itself does not transmit your personal information to our servers; in fact, we do not operate any server that receives your data.
The App stores a small amount of non-personal settings data locally on your device, and it displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Google AdMob, as a third-party advertising provider, may collect and process certain device and usage information as described below.
a) Data stored locally on your device (not collected by us)
To make the App work and to remember your choices, the App saves the following information locally on your device using Android's standard local storage (SharedPreferences):
- App settings and sound preferences (for example, selected sounds and playback options).
- Counters and flags used to decide when to show an in-app "rate this app" prompt.
- A first-launch flag and the last-seen operating system version, used to show first-run and update notices.
This data stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot read it remotely. It is used solely to provide and improve your experience within the App.
b) Data collected by Google AdMob (third-party advertising)
The App displays banner advertisements using Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may access and collect information from your device, which may include:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / AD_ID).
- Device information (such as device model, operating system version, and language).
- IP address and coarse, IP-derived approximate location.
- Ad interaction data (such as ad impressions and clicks).
This information is collected and processed by Google as an independent data controller in accordance with Google's own privacy policy. We do not receive this raw data ourselves; we only receive aggregated, non-identifying reports about ad performance.
For details on how Google uses data, please see:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
c) Device permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions for the purposes described:
- Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): required to load advertisements.
- Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): used by Google AdMob to serve advertising.
- Foreground service / media playback (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK): required to keep playing sounds while the App runs in the background.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): used to show the playback notification while sound is playing.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing.
Information is shared only with Google as our advertising provider, and only to the extent necessary to display and measure advertisements, as described in Section 2(b). Google's handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy linked above.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a consent form before personalized advertising data is processed, in accordance with applicable law. You may grant or decline consent through that form, and you can change your choice later (see Section 6).
- Data stored locally on your device: Settings, preferences, counters, and flags described in Section 2(a) are retained on your device for as long as the App remains installed. This data is removed when you clear the App's data or uninstall the App (see Section 6). We do not retain copies of this data, because it is never sent to us.
- Data collected by Google AdMob: Advertising-related data described in Section 2(b) is retained and deleted by Google in accordance with Google's own data retention policies. We do not control Google's retention periods. Information about Google's retention practices is available in the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Aggregated, non-identifying ad performance reports that we may view in the AdMob console contain no information that identifies you personally.
You can delete the data associated with the App at any time:
- Delete locally stored App data: On your Android device, open Settings > Apps > SleepSound > Storage, then tap "Clear data" (and "Clear cache"). This permanently removes all settings, preferences, counters, and flags the App stored on your device.
- Delete all App data by uninstalling: Uninstalling the App removes all data the App stored locally on your device.
- Reset or delete your advertising identifier: On your Android device, open Settings > Privacy > Ads (the exact path may vary by device), where you can reset or delete your Advertising ID and limit ad personalization. This controls the identifier used by Google AdMob.
- Withdraw advertising consent (EEA/UK/Switzerland): Where the consent form is shown, you can withdraw or change your consent. If the App provides a privacy or consent option in its menu, you can use it to reopen the consent form; you may also clear the App's data as described above to be prompted again.
- Request deletion of data held by Google: To exercise rights over data processed by Google AdMob, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy and the controls in your Google Account and device settings: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Because we do not collect or store your personal information on our own servers, there is no separate account for us to delete. If you have any questions about data deletion, contact us using the details in Section 9.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
