A quirky vibrAnt cafe gem

The Lounge @ Monkton Arts - located 'off the beaten track', this quirky vibrant café gem full of character serves a range of delicious local delicacies and hot and cold drinks, cakes and seasonal food.

In the evening it transforms into a low light twinkling, intimate and airy Jazz and blues venue, showcasing the very best of local, mainland and international musicians. (see music events page for up-to-date shows).

We now have a full licensed Bar

Our shop is attached to our cafe and sells art by local Isle Of Wight artists. The artwork covers a variety of prices and styles. Come and take a look!

Monkton Arts is home to our resident artists, Sandy Kendall, Isle of wight leather company and Phil who have their studio spaces upstairs in the arts centre. We also have Manny Weinstein, woodworker in our out unit as well as our affiliated artist Josh Raffell in his independent unit on the Zille Estate opposite Monkton Arts. We curate two art galleries: The Acons Gallery, a professional gallery and The Sara-K Children's Gallery. Both exhibitions change every two weeks.

We have formed an art group called the MVAs (the Monkton Village artists) as there were so many artist in our surrounding area.

Life Drawing is on offer. If you are interested in this please let us know so we can put you on the list.

A variety of arts and skills courses run on Saturdays. Booking is essential.

We also have a variety of other groups who meet at the cafe.

Monkton Arts grew out of the local Ryde and Isle of Wight community. Various groups utilise The Lounge @ Monkton Arts for a relaxed and friendly meeting place.

We also serve as a hub for initiating, curating and facilitating various local enterprises and initiatives in a range of fields including the arts, education, retail and regeneration. We believe grass-roots initiatives help to bind the community together and offer a platform for various skills and group projects.
